dancin' girls

taken with Zorki 3M ~ Orion 15

"At that time the deaf will hear word-for-word what's been written. After a lifetime in the dark, the blind will see. The castoffs of society will be laughing and dancing in GOD, the down-and-outs shouting praise to The Holy of Israel.” (Isaiah 29:18-19 MSG)

I have always thought that one of the defining characteristics of a real artist was the ability to take the sordid or mundane and re-perceive it as full of light and grace - to find the beauty and truth beneath, with the artist thus acting as an agent of redemption.

What more can I say? - A very impressive combination of word and image!

Thanks for the great encouragement jocko. I actually got heckled by some passing construction workers while framing this shot... I won't repeat their suggestions. But I liked how the shot came out.

Reagan, Your photo makes me wonder who these "dancing girls" are. Do they see themselfs as dancing girls or as having some other role in life. (single mother supporting a family?) I wish I new. It's a good thing when art makes the viewer ask questions.

Thanks Jim. Yeah, I often stare and speculate [and wonder] about the strangers I catch in a photo. What has their life been? What do they do? What about their family? The dancing girls too; "what brought them here?" The verse I stumbled on gave me assurance, "They'll be okay."
