a wind farm at sunset

taken with Zorki 3M ~ Jupiter 12

If you ever get the chance, stop in the middle of a wind farm and just listen. There’s something about the whirl of those big blades that’s so peaceful.

"Don't sit there watching the wind. Do your own work. Don't stare at the clouds. Get on with your life.” Ecclesiastes 11:4 MSG

"A voice says, "Shout!" I said, "What shall I shout?" "These people are nothing but grass, their love fragile as wildflowers. The grass withers, the wildflowers fade, if GOD so much as puffs on them. Aren't these people just so much grass? True, the grass withers and the wildflowers fade, but our God's Word stands firm and forever."

Though our summer drought has left everything else very, very dry, this gardener's sunflowers still look great.

I always notice old buildings; like their bricks are telling stories. I saw this simple For Rent sign and wondered about the former tenants... and who might be interested in it.

"Jesus looked over his shoulder and said to them, "What are you after?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means "Teacher"), "where are you staying?" He replied, "Come along and see for yourself." They came, saw where he was living, and ended up staying with him for the day."

Jesus, however, invited them: ‘Let the little children come to Me, and don't stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’" (Luke 18:15-17 HCSB)

old barn

taken with Zorki 4 ~ Jupiter 8

I love old barns. Something about an old barn makes me want to walk inside and look around; maybe poke around and look for signs of yesterday and the people that worked there. This is one on a friend's dairy farm in Illinois.

"Don't collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don't break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~ "I will do this,' he said. 'I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods there. Then I'll say to myself, "You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."' "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared--whose will they be?' (Matthew 6:19-21 HCSB ~ Luke 12:18-20 HCSB)

sweetness

The One. The Love of my Life. Caught in the act of her favorite pastime… telling a big story. I’m a long-winded Baptist preacher, but throw her in a crowd of “the girls” and she can put me to shame. And she doesn’t even need a pulpit.

crawdad safari

taken with Zorki 4 ~ Jupiter 8

Her second favorite pastime… running with our granddaughters. On this day they were out on their first ever “Crawdad Safari.”

“Out of respect for Christ, be courteously reverent to one another. Wives understand and support your husbands in ways that show your support for Christ. The husband provides leadership to his wife the way Christ does to his church, not by domineering but by cherishing. So just as the church submits to Christ as he exercises such leadership, wives should likewise submit to their husbands.

Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church--a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ's love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They're really doing themselves a favor--since they're already "one" in marriage. No one abuses his own body, does he? No, he feeds and pampers it.

That's how Christ treats us, the church, since we are part of his body. And this is why a man leaves father and mother and cherishes his wife. No longer two, they become "one flesh." This is a huge mystery, and I don't pretend to understand it all. What is clearest to me is the way Christ treats the church. And this provides a good picture of how each husband is to treat his wife, loving himself in loving her, and how each wife is to honor her husband.”
Ephesians 5:21-33 MSG)

the look

I’ve got a thousand pictures of my wife. That in itself is proof of her patience. She puts up with my constant, “One more, hun! C’mon, right over here… look! Here ya go!” But when enough is enough… Yep, there it is. The look. The cute and unmistakable “You’re-an-idiot” expression I get when I’m about one stroke of a Zorki shutter away from walking home.
